Ebooks in GCC's Library Catalog

The Library lists many eBooks in our catalog, available through various sources.  These can be found by doing an author, title or subject search in the online catalog's Advanced Search mode with the "Limit search to:" "More Collections" option set to "E-books."  To see all of our eBooks, leave the author, title, and subject fields blank and click on "Go".

Ebooks on the Internet

  • Bartleby
    Fiction and nonfiction books, reference books, poetry, quotations. Not downloadable to eBook readers.
  • CREDO Reference
    Reference sources including encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauri and books of quotations. Not downloadable to eBook readers.
  • Ebscohost eBooks  Icon  Icon
    Recently published titles in the subject areas of business, reference, computer science, medicine, health, humanities and social sciences. You will need to create a username and password to "check out" or download books. You must use free Adobe Digital Editions software to access downloaded ebooks.
  • Gale Virtual Reference Library  Icon  Icon
    Specialized encyclopedias, handbooks and reference sources. Offers downloadable audio (mp3) versions of text. Not downloadable to eBook readers.
  • Google Books
    Full-text of many books. Some are downloadable to eBook readers.
  • Health Reference - Salem Press
    Includes the complete content of the Magill's Medical Guide five-volume reference series and Cancer, a four-volume reference set. Not downloadable.
  • History Reference - Salem Press
    Includes the complete content of the Decades in America, Great Lives from History and Milestone Documents in American History printed reference sets. Includes illustrations and suggestions for further reading. Not downloadable.
  • OpenLibrary.org
    Over a million free eBook titles. Must complete free registration for access. Downloadable to eBook readers.
  • Project Gutenberg
    The Internet's oldest producer of free electronic books. Downloadable to eBook readers.
  • Sharpe Online Reference
    Contains Native Peoples of the World: an encyclopedia of groups, cultures, and contemporary issues, ed. by Steven Danver. M.E. Sharpe, 2013.
  • STAT!Ref Nursing Resources
    Includes Stedman's Medical Dictionary, Taber's Medical Dictionary, Nurse's Pocket Guide, Nursing Care Plans, etc. Not downloadable to eBook readers.
  • SUNY Press E Book Collection
    A collection of titles published by the SUNY Press 2000-2006. Must complete free registration with your GCC email address for access.
